Paros & Antiparos
Paros & Antiparos
We left Port Rafina and headed towards Paros for the first leg of our island tour. While there we stayed at Parian Hill, an Air B&B, which was amazing. The view was incredible and it was located near the port in Parika. This was our longest stay so in addition to going out to eat, we cooked at home a couple of times. The meals we had, both at home and out, were amazing.
One of the excursions we were able to take part in during our vacation was a day boat trip around Paros and Antiparos with Michael Zeppos Tours. The weather was rough so it was uncertain if we were going to be able to take to tour, but in the end we did, though it was changed a bit to avoid the choppier open waters they normally go in. During the excursion we stopped at a couple of safe spots to go swimming and cruised around the islands. We were treated to light snacks, bread, some of Captain Dimitris' wine (a white blend of Malvasia and Montevista grapes) then we stopped in a very calm cove to relax and swim some more. While there the crew composed a traditional Greek lunch consisting of a barley rusk, taramasalata, anchovies, cheese pie, green salad, marinated peppers, daka salad, braised octopus with caramelized onions and fava bean puree, and an orzo with fresh tuna to finish it off. The food was spectacular and the trip was incredible. It was amazing to see the island from the Aegean Sea.
While in Paros for five days we stayed at Parian Hill in Parikia. Though it was only fifteen minutes walking from the Port, we rented a car so we could explore the island while we were there. Additionally because we were there as long, and because B&B was awesome, we ate at home a bit. Almost everyday breakfast consisted of fresh fruit, yogurt, local honey. Lunches we ate out, and dinners were mixed. There was a local butcher down the street Κρεοπωλείο Πετρόπουλος Χρήστος that we picked up some meats at one day. Another evening we whole roasted a snapper from a local fishmonger.
