Greece

As I was adding images to this page I came to the realization that I had way way too many restaurant and food pictures to post on one page.  I decided to break apart the trip I took into sections and created a page for each section.  For the first week of the trip we stayed on the mainland, except for a short excursion to Hydra.  We started in Athens then drove through the Peloponnese heading towards Hydra.  After that we spent a couple of nights in Naplio then headed towards Port Rafina.  For the remaining two weeks we took ferries from one island to another staying at each for a couple of days until we returned to the mainland to fly out the next day.

I started with Athens & Outskirts, which include my arrival, the first 2 nights in Athens.  It also includes Port Rafina, which was the return to the city from Hydra, as well as the return to the mainland on our last day before flying out.

The next section I had was our trip from Athens through the Peloponnese including the visit to Naplio, the original capital of ancient Greece.

The first island highlighted is Hydra.  We traveled there during the journey through the Peloponnese and stayed there for 2 nights.  Though it was a short stay it was one of the more memorable places.

We stayed at Parian Hill, an Air B&B in Paros for 5 days.  There we ate out, took a day boat, visited Antiparos, as well as cooked at home for the first time while on vacation.  Paros was an amazing place that we got to explore, but not nearly enough.

We stayed in Megalochori in Santorini.  It's a area in almost the middle of the island so we were able to drive all around fairly easily.  Santorini was amazing.  Everything is essentially on cliffs, and the views were amazing.  Santorini is known for tomato production, and is famous for it's cherry tomatoes.  We were able to go the industrial museum there, and I was able to bring back seeds that I will rotate into my garden vegetables.

Sifnos was the last island on our trip.  It was a very relaxing end to our vacation as we were walking distance from a beatiful beach and the port.  It was also where we ate at Cantina Sifnos, one of, if not the, best meals of our trip.  My sister in law had been following them on Instagram and we made reservations.  They focus on sustainable food and zero waste mentality.
